What are the lowest priced weeks to cruise?
Published Saturday, March 12th 2016 - Updated Saturday, March 12th 2016A question clients ask us sometimes is “When is the cheapest time of year to cruise?” The simple answer is that cruise price changes week to week are all based one thing -- supply and demand.
While some weeks, like holidays, are known for having high prices due to an increase in demand, there are a few weeks that tend to be the cheapest times to take a cruise because they fall into what we might call “slower weeks”. However, any week of the year can have high prices on a specific sailing just because it happens to be selling well.
So when might these slower weeks be?
1. Right after the very busy Christmas and New Year’s season is over. Try the 2nd week of January through the 1st week of February for good pricing.
2. After Valentine’s Day the romantic cruise week is over. Try middle of February until the big Spring Break rush starts in March.
3. Early/Mid May. The popular Spring Break weeks and Easter are past but before the kids get out of school the last of May.
4. Right after Labor Day in September. With kids back in school and hurricane season great rates can normally be found in September and October.
5. The first two weeks of December. Falling in between the popular cruise weeks of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the first two weeks of December will often have some of the best rates of the year.
Our best recommendation, no matter when you plan to travel, is to book early, book early!
