Touring the Carnival Magic
Published Thursday, August 4th 2016
We just had the opportunity to do a ship tour on the Carnival Magic on July 23, 2016 and I would rate this ship as a must sail. First it is convenient for Floridians and tourists alike to have great ship options coming to Port Canaveral this year.
With the introduction of the Carnival Vista in May 2016, the 15 Deck Carnival Magic now becomes the third youngest ship in the fleet. It still bears a little of the style and colors of “Carnival Past” however the ship is modern in every way plus was just recently updated. At 1,004 feet long, the Magic is features The Lanai, a scenic half-mile outdoor wraparound promenade deck.
For activities, there is a basketball court, outdoor exercise area, mini golf, a small Ropes course and fitness center. Carnival Waterworks is a fantastic multi-level water slide area with a great splash area for the kids.
We loved the adult only Serenity area on the top deck with its extra comfy chairs, loungers, hammocks, 2 spas and a small bar.
One of the most important things on any cruise ship is the dining and bar offerings. Carnival Magic doesn’t disappoint with Prime Steakhouse, Cucina de Capitano Italian, Blue Iguana Cantina, and the famous Guy’s Burger Joint. Recently added, a first at sea, was Guy’s Pig & Anchor Bar-b-cue Smokehouse. The Alchemy Bar and Red Frog Rum Bar are favorites. Special on the Magic is that the Red Frog includes seating on the open deck as well.
At the end of the day you will become well rested in your choice of Interior, Ocean View, Balcony and Suites. Carnival’s staterooms tend to be slightly larger than some other cruise lines. We found the rooms to be well appointed and one of our favorite features of the ship was the Cove Balconies located on deck three. For those who wish to enjoy a Balcony experience, yet be close to the water, these are an ideal state room choice.
